LAMINATION
Lamination usually goes hand in hand with large format printing. Since most papers are
delicate and not waterproof (We offer waterproof papers as well as standard papers),
lamination is a great way to finish your project. We offer mainly three types of lamination:
Gloss, Matte, and Luster. This is the most common type of lamination, mainly because of its high quality
and low price. Lamination is the option we offer. It is a very durable, non glare, scratch
resistant, protective coating that is mainly used for trade shows.
We are capable of laminating up to 54'' wide. For gloss and matte lamination, we use 2-15mil
lamination front and back with encapsulation, to prevent pealing.
Getting Started
What can be laminated?
Any graphics can be laminated with no problems. We regularly laminate various
thicknesses and paper qualities of digital prints. All types of photos can be laminated
successfully to. There is no minimum size for lamination and we can laminate anything
up to 54" wide, to basically any length.
Remember lamination is permanent, therefore we
do not suggest laminating anything irreplaceable.
How does the laminator work?
We use a roll laminator, into which the flattened poster is fed. The machine heats the
laminate to melt the glue prior to the laminate touching the poster so there is no direct heat in
contact with the poster. The laminate is adhered to the front & back of the poster through a set
of high pressure rollers to be finished. The laminate width is what limits the lamination size while
the length is fed from a continuous roll.
What can you write on laminate with?
 Grease pencil/China marker - both write well and come of easily.
Overhead Projector Pen - such as Vis a Vis by Sanford - comes off
with a damp cloth.
Most non-permanent felt-tips - such as Flair or PaperMate,
some may bead up.
Highlighting Pens - again some may bead up.
What can you clean a laminated poster with?
Lamination is impervious to liquid therefore most cleaners are fine. Depending on what you are cleaning off of a piece you can use:
Glass Cleaner.
UnSeal or Adhesive Release.
Acetone or Lighter Fluid.
Water.
Pressure Sensitive Laminating Films
Instashield Gloss
Instashield Gloss is 1.5 or 3 mil polyester film coated with super-clear acrylic
solvent adhesive. Uses when extra-glossy pop is required for display applications,
Instashield Gloss delivers. It's the clearest of all laminating films, resulting in enhanced
color and reflectivity. Its acrylic solvent adhesive makes it a good choice for outdoor applications.
Instashield Lustre
Instashield Lustre is a neutral finish vinyl film that provides a slight sheen. Uses for
tradeshow materials and POP displays - indoors or out - Instashield Lustre has proven itself
one of the most popular products in the industry for 12 years. It's thicker than many competing
films and reduces reflections, while maintaining color contrast, even under heavy display lighting.
Its acrylic solvent adhesive also makes it a good choice for outdoor applications.
Instashield Matte
Instashield Matte is a top-quality, time-proven, matte finish vinyl film. Uses a proven
performer for over 12 years, Instashield Matte eliminates reflections and provides a softening
effect to color graphics - making it ideally suited for television backdrops and other high-glare
applications. Its acrylic solvent adhesive also makes it a good choice for outdoor applications.
Instashield Wide Gloss & Instashield Wide Matte
Instashield Wide Gloss and Instashield Wide Matte are economical polyester films
designed for super-wide 72" ink jet and photographic printing. Uses for tradeshow materials,
POPs, and as a laminate for vinyl banners of short duration, Instashield Wide Gloss delivers
high quality at an economical cost. Instashield Wide Matte eliminates reflections and provides
a softening effect to color graphics - making it ideally suited for television backdrops and other
high-glare applications.

Instashield E Lustre
Instashield E Lustre is an economical, neutral finish vinyl film. Uses Instashield E
Lustre uses the same face film and release liner as our premium Instashield Lustre - combined
with an acrylic emulsion adhesive for lower cost. Its lustre finish reduces reflection without
reducing color contrast, making it a good choice for tradeshow graphics and POP displays.
Instashield E Matte
Instashield E Matte is a tough, economical, matte finish vinyl film. Uses Instashield E
Matte is an economical alternative to Instashield Matte. Using the same face film and release
liner - plus an acrylic emulsion adhesive - it eliminates reflections and provides a softening
effect to color graphics. It's ideally suited for television backdrops and other high-glare applications.
Premium Cast Gloss & Premium Cast Matte
Premium Cast Gloss and Premium Cast Matte are highperformance, 2 mil, clear
cast vinyl films. Uses when long-term outdoor durability is required, Premium Cast Gloss
and Premium Cast Matte provide a choice of finish and a 90 lb poly-coated liner. These films
can be used as an overlaminate when combined with Premium Cast Vinyl Films, and as a
substrate when a clear surface is desired. They're also perfect for applications that need
to conform to curved or varied surfaces.
Pressure Sensitive Backers
Instashield GWP
Instashield GWP is a 2 mil, gloss white polypropylene backer with a permanent
pressure sensitive adhesive. Uses when clear or transparent graphics need to be backlit,
Instashield GWP is the perfect solution. It adds the needed opacity... without added thickness.
Its aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive resists tunneling and delaminating to increase the
life of rollable graphics. Instashield GWP is also the perfect complement to our ink-jet printable
IJ Polycarbonate digital media.
Instashield FWV
Instashield FWV is a 10 mil flexible white vinyl with a permanent pressure sensitive
adhesive. Uses more flexible than its competitors, Instashield FWV is perfectly suited for
tradeshow graphics that need added thickness and opacity. It's flexible enough to be rolled
and re-rolled for shipping and storage, while its aggressive adhesive resists tunneling and

Specialty Films
Instashield Dry Erase
Instashield Dry Erase is a 2.0 mil gloss polypropylene laminating film. Uses for
corporate and tradeshow applications where dry erase marker needs to be applied and
erase, Instashield Dry Erase provides a high-quality, durable solution. It features a premium,
easy-to-use pressure sensitive adhesive and a paper release liner.
Instashield FG
Instashield FG is a 5 mil, low-glare, rigid vinyl film formulated for floor graphics. Uses
combined with Instashield Calendared Vinyl for solventbased ink jet printers - or Vinyl Matte
SA for dye-based thermal ink jet printers - Instashield FG creates durable, high-quality floor
graphics with a textured finish for protection and slip resistance. It offers an economical
